Parade and a Job..

Hey all,

This past Saturday I took my son to the annual Harrisburg Irish Day Parade in the Capital City. Weather was a little chilly, but overall it was nice.

One of the bagpipers warming up
                                              Past and future
                                        Drummers

The premire truck company in Harrisburg, being driven by none other then Brad Myers Of Brad Myers Photography

Later on that evening, I talked to Brad and I came up to the station and visited with him and Brian Bastinell(Of Brian Bastinelli photography) We were sitting in the kitchen talking when we found out about a large fire in Reading PA in a warehouse. Did not think too much of it, was on my way home when a friend called me and told me he was heading up to get photos and he had a friend on the scene still confirming heavy fire. So I decided to go up and this is what I saw..

A 51,000 square foot 3 story vacant furniture warehouse, well off with 2 homes that were attached to it also burned

Reading Engine 3 on a Hydrant down 2nd Street with the fire building in the background

                                      Top of the warehouse

Tower Ladder from Reading Flowing water onto the fire

Few more shots of the fire. Folks, I know times are tough but this is another example of why you do not lay off firemen. Reading's staffing is 2 per rig and thats it. The initial alarm brought 10-12 guys to the scene, 12 guys for a Fully Involved 51,000 square foot building. The FD did a damn good job in keeping the fire from taking anymore homes and possibly, even the block. Yes, Reading did call in outside help but regardless, Firemen should not be laid off. Period..

Off my soapbox now...

Have a great day!

My favorite subject to photograph...

Hey everyone,

This was taken at a place for kids called BOUNCE-U in Annville PA. The place is an old hanger that was converted and has HUGE bounce slides, courses, you name it. Great place to take a kid if you need to wear him down for a nap. Very reasonably priced as well. This was Wyatt's first visit and as you can tell, he loved every minute. I just upgraded to the D3000 for Nikon and was practicing with it here.

Have a great day!

Vintage and Modern....

Fire Apparatus that is. If I had a place to store it, I would own this mack from Rothsville. For a 1959, it is in great shape.
Kinzer Fire Company Engine 4-5-2, I believe it is a 2007 Pierce all wheel drive engine

The cutest little boy in the world. Yes I'm biased...

Another one of my favorite macks. The Lampeter Fire Company Engine 5-4-3, a 1969 CF Mack. This engine did service with a fire company in Delaware County, however for the life of me I cannot remember who it was. This engine used to be white at one time.
Hope all have been well. Stay Safe!

Mascot's and Baseball...

Hey everyone,
I hope your week has been good. These were taken at the Lancaster Barnstormers FanFest 2010 at Clipper Stadium. It's a free event with free food and other acitivites and this year, they were going to be playing the Camden Riversharks in a exhibiton game for free.
Hey, free is good so I took Wyatt down to the ballpark which is only about 10 minutes from my house. The first mascot Wyatt see's is Cylo from the Barnstormers. He then posed with the Camden RiverShark Mascot. I think that one was his favorite.
He then posed with a bear. After Wyatt was done, we started to walk to the playground when they announced that due to field conditions. The game was cancelled but they were going to hold batting practice. They were allowing fans down onto the field so I took Wyatt down and let him run for a little bit.
I tried to get him to look at me in the photo with the scoreboard but something else had his attention. I am not really sure what the fasination was with the Storming Red display in the outfield but for some reason he liked it.
The weather then got really crappy so we left. We'll be back soon enough when the weather gets warm and we can see some games.
Time for bed, have a great day!

Harrisburg ST Patricks Day Parade

Hey everyone,
Hope things are going well. These are photos from the annual ST. Patricks day parade held in Harrisburg. The first four photos are from the staging area around the Capital Complex. The fifth photo was taken in Steelton, just south of Harrisburg. They had the rigs parked across the street and my son wanted to see them. So I found a place to park and we were checking them out. I saw the church in the background behind the firehouse and thought that would be a cool photo.
That is all, have a great day!

Hey everyone,
Hope you all are doing well. These were taken from a very recent visit to Chocolate World in Hershey PA. We took Wyatt as he enjoys the ride that shows how the chocolate is made, but he really loves the singing cows.
Have a great week!

Wyatt and a statue...

Hey Everyone,

Hope you are having a great week. These were taken this past summer along Front Street by the Harvey Taylor Memorial Bridge. Wyatt and I were attending the KAPONA festival and were taking a walk when he noticed the series of statues. I believe it is actually a tribute or a memorial for PENN DOT workers that were killed on the job. The first thing he spots is the dump truck. He walks over and says hi to the little boy holding the truck. He kind of stands there for a moment checking things out and then decides he wants to play on the truck.

He kept wanting to leave with it till I had to explain to him that it was not real. He still had fun though..

Have a great day!

PS... I also want to say Welcome to a few new followers of my blog that I recently just noticed. Thanks for visiting my blog and I hope you keep coming back and don't be afraid to leave a comment or two...

Stepping into a whole new world....

Hey Everyone,

Hope you had a great thanksgiving! I had to work. We had the usual calls for oven fires and for fights that family members picked up from last year's thanksgiving. Oh well.

This was taken at my wife's cousin's wedding a few weeks ago. The wedding was held outdoors and this is the happy couple walking outside of the tent for the first time as husband and wife. I'll be the first to admit that I don't have the talent or knowledge on how to shoot a wedding, for that go to Brian Bastinelli's blog. I thought I would try and see how I do. Hey you have to start somewhere right??

If you are one of the crazy people that likes to go shopping on black friday, more power to you. Just stay safe and have a great weekend!

PS. If you like the photo or don't, Please comment. I would love to know what you think...

I was hoping to get a shot of my nephew in mid flight but I hit the shutter too quick. Oh well, I still think it turned out good.

Have a great day!

Hey Everyone,

Hope you had a good weekend. This is from Thomas the train visiting Strasburg Railroad earlier in the summer. Thomas is actually going in reverse, not racing the other train as it may appear. I cannot recall what the other engine is, Brad????

Wyatt meets The Amtrak Safety Police...

Hey Everyone,

Hope you had a good weekend. This was taken when Thomas was in town. Amtrak Railroad Police had a safety stand set up and they had this little officer meeting the kids that were there. Wyatt was not too sure about him right away, but eventually warmed up to him..

Have a great day!
