On the scene, I have command...
Hey everyone,
Yes..Thats my son Wyatt assisting as Command Staff at a small job on Memorial Day. A mutual aide departments photographer was going out of town on vacation and asked me to cover any calls for him If I was available. The wife was out doing errands when the box was struck for the house fire. The chief arrived on the scene with smoke from the eaves, at which point I loaded Wyatt up and away we went. The fire was knocked when we got there so I took a few scene photos with Wyatt right next to me. The Chief, who I've known for a long time and is a good friend asked me If I could take photos on the inside for him. His wife, who I have worked with for 13 years was very happy to watch Wyatt while I helped inside with the investigation portion of the fire. When I came out, Wyatt was in the back of the Chiefs truck with his incident command vest on.
So I took the photo and this was the end result...
Have a great day!

Lets go to a parade...
Hey Everyone,
Hope you had a great memorial day weekend. I had to work unfortunatley, but In 7 years and 6 months and about 15 days. I can dictate my own schedule. HAHA
These photos were taken at one of the Memorial Day Parades held in Lancaster yesterday. We decided to attend one on a spur of the moment and we chose the Elizabethtown Parade.
The first photo is one of the rigs from the Elizabethtown Fire Department(7-4). It is their newest engine to the fleet.
The second photo is my little buddy waving his flags as the bands are going by.
Hope you have a great day!

Taking a well deserved break...
Hey Everyone,
Final post for this week. Here is a group of Solders taking a break waiting for the mess hall to open up for chow. Folks, If you ever get the chance to attend one of these type of events I strongly encourage it. It is well worth your time and you get to learn some things you may not have known or may have known and just forgot.
So with that said, Brad thanks again for telling me about the event. Hopefully I'll see you at the June event in Reading if I am off.
Have a great weekend!

I made it to one year...
Hey everyone,
Today is the one year anniversary of my blog. I can't believe I made it to one year already. It's been a fun year, I've gotten to meet some great photographers and firemen who I consider friends(Brad, Rich, Brian) Thanks for all that have stopped by and left comments, I hope you continue to do so.
Anyway, these photos are from this past weekend. I met up with Brad and Shane Myers and also Rich Bistline(HFD 60) at the Army Heritage Days event in Carlise. It did not disapoint at all. I plan on making it a annual event/photoshoot hopefully with Brad and Rich. It is a living history event and the attention to detail is simply amazing. I plan on doing this whole week on photos I shot from there. I hope you like them.
Brad, Shane and Rich, I had a great time hanging out with you guys and I look forward to our next photoshoot and hopefully that can be soon!

Above the clouds...
Hey Everyone,
Sorry for no post yesterday. I had to get to bed early to take Wyatt to School and then I had to go to School for work, so it was a pretty long day.
This was taken this past Saturday at the 20th Annual Make A Wish Convoy held down here in Lancaster at Burle Industries. It is a wonderfull wonderfull charity held for kids and one that is worthy of support.
Along with trucks, many pieces of fire apparatus take place in the parade as well. This photo is of the platform of Elizabethtown Fire Department Truck 7-4 set up in the parking lot before the departure of the parade.
Have a great day!

FillSite is established...
Hey everyone,
Sorry I missed the last two days. Very busy with stuff around the house and doing things with Wyatt. I just did not have the chance.
So I hope you all had a good weekend. Now for todays photo.
This was taken at a drill I photographed last year at the Lancaster Airport. What you see is a port-a-tank or pond that is found in alot of the companies in the rural areas that do not have hydrants. The portatanks are carried on water tankers. An average tanker can carry from 1,800 to 4,000 gallaons of water sometimes more.
This was on the runaway at the airport. Closest hydrant would have been about 2-3 miles away from where we were. The drill was a simulated aircraft that crashed and was on fire.
The tanker on the right is dumping it's water into the portatank and the engine on the left is the designated supply engine. That means that the engine is supplying the water up to the scene of the incident. They are not always this easy. This area was pretty easy as it was straight and level. On a actual incident, you may be forced to set up on a hill, curve, field. It all depends on the area.
and this concludes your lesson on rural firefighting 101.
Have a great day!
