Reported House on fire....

Hey all,

Todays image is of Lancaster City Bureau Of Fire Truck 2. They were assisting on a reported house fire my department had last night. As it turned out, it was an overheated motor in a dishwasher.

Hope your all having a great week. If you want to see some really excellant fire photos, Go to Brian Bastinelli's blog or his other website, www.fire-ground.com as he has some excellant ones from a recent job Harrisburg City Fire had the other day..

The evil mastermind...

Hey all,

Well, today I honestly had no idea what I was going to post. So I was looking though my online albums and decided to post this shot of my nephew. This photo was taken inside Chuck E Cheese Pizza. He was playing somekind of haunted house game. The game cost a $1.25 to play. I'm sorry, bring back pac man and donkey kong when you could play them for a quarter.

Anyhoo, this particular shot reminded me of a movie, however I cannot place the name of it.

That is all I have for today.

Stay Safe everyone,

Woody

Back to Harrisburg...

Hey all,

Hope you are all enjoying the holiday!. I know I am, I do have to work tonight on OT but it's only for four hours and at triple time. I'm not complaning.

Today's photo I spent about 30 minutes trying to recreate it. If you go to Brad Myers Blog and click on Harrisburg. There is a shot very similar to this one. I really liked that shot and when I was up in Harrisburg a few weeks ago. I took this photo from about the same spot and worked it up in photoshop to try and come as close as I could to it. It's not quite where I want it, but I think it looks pretty good overall.

This photo was taken at the top of the Capital Steps looking west towards the river.

Hope you all have a great week.

Stay Safe,

Requiem For A Fire Department...

Hey Everyone...

I've been in the fire service, going on 19 years of my life. I always had a wish that attending a FD funeral would somehow get easier, but it never does. This weekend I will be attending a funeral for the uncle of the Deputy Chief of my company. His uncle was a life member of a neighboring department and I am going in support of my Deputy Chief, who is also a coworker and a long time friend.

For those in the fire service, you understand. For those that are not, I don't have the time right now to explain our Brotherhood to you, maybe one day in the future..

So with that said, I hope you all have a great weekend. Stay safe and tell your family that you love them. You never know when it will be the time..

Skywatch...

Hi all,

Well I decided to try something new and participate in the Skywatch. I hope this photo counts and If it does not, I apologize and I will change it. This is a photo of a plane coming in for a landing at Philadelphia Airport. I was on my way to the Phillies game and shot this manuel on the bus on I95 doing about 65mph. I know it is not the greatest photo but it's a start.

Hope you like it....and I hope this qualifies...

Stay Safe,

Woody

Charge the line...

Hey all,

Sorry, It's been a crazy past few days and this is the first chance I've had to sit down and post. I actually just got home from work and this will be quick as I have to be back in for a meeting. York City Fire went to decues on a commercial structure around 00:30. Quiet night as usual on the east side of the river.

I wanted to get to the York Arts Festival to check out Brian B's stand but my son was sick all weekend with a 102 fever and a cold. (Sorry Brian) I hope the rest of you got a chance to head over and check things out.

Todays photo, is a space filler. I have not had a chance to head out and do any photographing, with the exception of this fire. This is a crew on the Delta side of the house waiting to open up the line to attack the fire in the attic.

When I had the honor of having dinner with the crew from Tower 2 and Wagon 3, I had asked about what was the largest fire they ever responded to in the City and they answered the Vernon Building fire. The crew got a run and I never got the chance to find out anymore first hand accounts about the fire. So I posted it on centralpafire.com and got to learn a little history and info about the blaze. So If you guys who read my blog were on for that fire. I'd love to hear about it..

(If you can't tell, I always love to listen to war stories about fires)

Stay Safe Everyone..

Have a great week everyone!!

A little help from your friends...

Hey all,

Kind of like the song, "a little help from my friends". Never hurts to have a little help from your friends when you need them. Today's photos are of some of the mutual aide rigs that were on the fire from yesterday.

That's all I have for today. I hope you guys have a great weekend and again, If you get the chance. Head to York to the Arts Festival and see Brian Bastinelli at his stand for some great photography. To my other Harrisburg Buddy, Brad Myers, have a great time in Bristol! Hope it does not rain down there. I want pictures...
